About Me
Ian Burnett
Hello, I'm Ian Burnett, and my experience and expertise come from working for international companies in sales and marketing, and setting up my own businesses after I left the corporate world.
Working for some very large US companies, I travelled the world usually helping start up new operations and manging business units in far flung places.
But then I went to live the dream. I moved to Turkey, to start a new life and my wife and I set up a villa rental business from scratch with no experience in the market! We were crazy ! It's still trading very successfully now (after a couple of evolutions).
And after returning from Turkey (and a short stint in corporate - yes again, and I hated it), I then set up and grew two successful small businesses, one a website design franchise where I helped hundreds of small businesses desperate for growth.
The website franchise experience inspired me to set up Your Business Growth Coach, as all too often small business owners struggled to find a systematic way to generate new business.

My Guiding Principles
I learned a huge amount with my own businesses and you don't have the comfort of the corporate world was once a part of.
Work with people you trust!
Business can be treacherous - navigating the unknown can be very tough, and frightening. So work with good people, build trust and stick to your principles
It's not all about shiney new objects - dig into the numbers!
Driving growth in a business is more than just a shiny new website or a shiny new tool you think will lead to the business growth you want. It's much more than that. In my business and in you business the answers are always in the numbers so measure your key numbers.
Believe in yourself, be flexible and adapt quickly.
We have faced some tough times - especially a start up business overseas. Always believe that success is possible, and recognise that your level of success will be directly linked to your planning, marketing and sales, and be willing to do whatever it takes to attract them.
Set high standards - Commit and do your best to deliver
Aim for the moon and even if you miss you may just land in the starts! That speaks for itself....
My Spare Time
In my spare time I have these passions:
Annie - Mrs Burnett
My fantastic wife - it's our 20th Anniversay this year. She's the best thing that happened to me . She keeps me grounded and she's my personal coach - we all need one. Honest!
Cooking - It's definitely my "switch off" thing
I can cook a bit! There is nothing better for me to switch off than following a recipe step by step, and producing a meal which hits the mark. I'm a massive fan of curries and cook my meals from the ground up. No pre-prepared sauces from me. If you are going to do it - do it properly.
Travel - It's in my blood!
I was born in Kenya, and I have been lucky enough to travel all over the world in my corporate days. It didn't cost me anything (other than a marriage). And since I met Annie we have spent some brilliant holidays together. We have had some fantastic holidays - California road Trip, Australia in 2022 and last year was Greek Islands , Abu Dhabi, and Bodrum, Turkey (twice).
